I have had the pleasure of photographing the P family a few times in the past. This time they opted for an at-home documentary family session! We made the most of the session and included time indoor and outdoor. The kids had a blast jumping on their mom and dad's bed, and my favorite part was capturing them playing on the giant snow hill they made in their backyard!

I have had the honor of photographing the Kongmanisvong family on multiple occasions. This session, however, was my favorite family session that we have had together yet. Exciting times lie ahead as they await the completion of their new home, but first, they must say goodbye to their first family home. What better way to do that than to document one of the last afternoons spent in the house together as a family.

I met up with one of my favorite family's this past fall for their annual family photos. We always have a great time exploring and the boys always bring their best funny faces when prompted!

Traveling all the way from Texas, the Kohut's came back to Winnipeg to renew their wedding vows in the very church they were married in 25 years ago. Despite restrictions around the COVID pandemic during this time, it was a beautiful day of love, family, and reconnection.

It had been a few years since I caught up with this beautiful family. Since then they added their third addition, miss 'B', who is full of determination and independence. We met up for a family session at Birds Hill Park. I suggested this walking trail in the park as it has a look-out structure that kids always get a kick out of. My focus of family sessions is capturing natural and real moments and this provided the kids with something to focus on and forget that they had a camera following them around. We spent the hour exploring, walking the paths and even came across a little tree fort that the kids spent time exploring and climbing. We were going to check out the animals at Pineridge Hollow, but after walking the trails, climbing rocks and being zipped around in the air by their parents the kids were about done. We captured really great memories this evening!

My dear friend had her second baby boy just about one month ago. Time fly's by way too fast. If you have kids you'll know this is certain. This first year is pretty much one big blur. There is so much that is forgotten in this sleep deprived year; the feeding, the changing, the bottle cleaning, the crying, the sleeping, the peeing and pooping, the baby coos, the smiles, and the trying to keep the other child occupied as well. We decided to document a year in the life with baby N. I hung out with them one evening, when he was just a couple of weeks old for only an hour or so, in what will be the first of four documentary sessions with their family this first year of his life. Take a look!

This family is lovely. I have captured annual family photos for them for a few years now. This was the first year that we spent the majority of the session focusing on documentary/candid images. They chose Harbourview Park, which has a really great and fairly new play structure! I think it was a fairly successful session. The kids got to spend time just playing at the park and they very quickly forgot about the camera being around. We came out with some really great and fun images!

My dear dear friend and talented photographer asked me to take a few maternity and family photos for her a few months ago. I was completely honored and of course said yes! This is baby number two for this family, things are going to start getting a whole lot crazier! She looked absolutely stunning and we captured some truly magical moments. I have since met her new little squish, who is of course super adorable. These two sure do make cute babies! I had a hard time narrowing down these images, end result being a larger blog post. Congrats Ashley and Jay!

I met the J family when we got together to document their maternity photos. Ten or so months later we meet again to capture this sweet sweet baby girl. Quite a little natural, baby W had lots of bright eyes and cute expressions for our shoot together. It was such a pleasure getting together with this family again and meeting their new addition. Congratulations again!!

I met this absolutely lovely and most photogenic mommy and daddy-to-be a couple of Autumn's ago. Amber had visions for an outdoor, woodsy look to the maternity session. Birds Hill Park was a perfect place to achieve this. They were naturals in front of the camera and made my job so easy. Amber looked so stunning in that beautiful yellow maternity gown. We had some amazing sun rays, open field and an almost vacant beach to achieve these photos! Since then I have captured their sweet peanut as well...blog post for that coming up!

Just outside of Winnipeg holds one of my favorite spots for family photo sessions. Birds Hill Park is filled with so many beautiful spots to have a family session. You can use this park over and over and probably still never run out of different spots. I have photographed this family a couple of times now in this wonderful location. Each time, great captures. I love it when parents come up with funny ideas, such as this dad..yelling "BEAR!!" when I was photographing the kids. Bahahah. It's always a pleasure getting together with this crew!

Sometimes kids are totally into family portraits, and sometimes they are not, and that is totally fine!! It is my job to make sure the kids have fun during their family session and that the parents stress as little as possible. I love this family. The kids have a ton of energy and they create awesome images. My favorite part of a session is when the family is just being them! When the kids are being kids, climbing, running, being silly...that's what make the best photos.

I had the absolute honor of capturing a surprise proposal, and not just any proposal, it was for one of my dearest friends. We had already set the date to photograph their annual family photos. About a week before the session I received a call from Jay with his ideas of proposing to Ashley after the family shoot and was wondering if I was up to shooting it. Heck yes!! The day of the session, I was so excited for knowing what was to come...after I had given them the "okay I think we got everything", Jay said "I have one more idea"...He got down on one knee with their little guy and the rest is history! It was a perfect evening and I could not be happier for the 3 of them!!

I was asked by a friend of mine to photograph her daughter in a few of her dancing costumes for a nice keepsake for her. This was not a typical session that I would normal shoot, but thought it might be fun. We did photograph her in four different costumes; however my favorite was for her lyrical dance. We were out in a field, a beautiful sunset, magic floating in the air, her mom put on music and she dance....she danced her heart out. It was so beautiful and moving that it just about brought me to tears....had I not been taking the photos I likely would have been crying. If anything is certain it is that girl was born to dance.

I have photographed for this lovely family several times now. I love it when I can catch up and see the kids as they grow up. These parents just had their fourth child, their first baby girl. This lucky girl has three older brothers who absolutely adore her. Their second oldest had the most wonderful bond with her. She will be the most protected little girl out there! Here's a few shots from our morning session!

Meet the 'M' Family. They have 3 of the cutest kids around. So photogenic, they really made my job ridiculously easy and fun! I love it when I get to see their personalities really shining through throughout the session. Take a peek at these great images we captured that morning at Birds Hill Park!

It has been a few years since I have photographed this lovely family. I am friends with the momma and she was looking to have a few pics done as her boys are growing so quickly! I couldn't believe how much they grew when we met up at Fort Gibraltar! They are full of energy which made for a fun family session!

Sometimes you just need to take the time to have some photos of you and your other half. That was the case with these two beautiful people. We drove out to the picturesque Pinawa Dam for this session. It was a super fun evening however we could have done without the bear surprise at the end. As we were walking back to the vehicles right there, several feet in front of us, two black bears going through the garbage. YIKES! I wanted to run the other way, but we remained super calm making noise and making ourselves look large..they eventually ran away/away from us thankfully and all was good. Mostly every part of me wanted to run in the other direction, which probably wouldn't have been the right thing?! I however did not get a photo of that, bummer.

This was the S Family's first family photos in a REALLY LONG TIME, we are talking the youngest was in diapers! So they were much over due. It was a fairy relaxed evening and had fun just capturing being together in a favorite spot of theirs!

Baby 'R'
It was such a pleasure getting to meet this wonderful and laid-back family. We spent the afternoon capturing the beautiful bond between their now family of 4, and their cats! The sweet little peanut was awake for most of the session, taking in this new world around her.
Winnipeg Maternity
I had the absolute pleasure of capturing maternity photos for Kari and Riley, as well as their super cute dog Symba, at Birds Hill Park in the Summer. We lucked out with a beautiful evening, a deserted beach and a lovely sunset. This was a wonderful location for this summer maternity session.
Kari and Riley have since had their little bundle of joy. Stay tuned for the little one's blog post!

Heather and Rex's Winnipeg Wedding
Heather and Rex's beautiful wedding took place in Winnipeg, Manitoba and on the day of their 10th anniversary! How amazing is that?! I met up in the morning with Heather, her lovely bridesmaids, and the mothers of both bride and groom at the Fort Garry Hotel while the girls had their hair and makeup done. We lucked out with some pretty amazing weather that day despite some heavy rain the night before. After bride and groom were all ready, we met at Upper Fort Garry for the first look and the start of the wedding party portraits.
Heather and Rex chose Aspire Studios for a part of their wedding party portraits. Heather also had a vision of having some of the wedding portraits take place in and around the exchange district. However, due to the damp conditions on the streets from the nights rain before we opted to expand our time at Aspire Studios. Following the studio portraits they had a table reserved at Across the Board game cafe. They were able to kick back and relax for an hour or so with their wedding party, have a drink or two and play some board games before the ceremony.
The Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art was the venue for their ceremony and reception. The ceremony took place on the beautiful rooftop terrace and everything ran smoothly with coordination from Amanda Douglas Events. Commissioned by Sheryl Hunnie and filled with personal touches from the bride and groom that truly made their ceremony unique.
The reception started off with a performance by Japanese drumming group, Fubuki Daiko, of which Rex is a member and performed flawlessly at his own wedding! This spectacular drumming performance was followed by an exciting Lion dance! The rest of the reception was filled with heartfelt speeches, the traditional cake cutting, mother-bride, groom-mother dances, and special dances including their grandmothers. It was a truly lovely and unique wedding. Wishing these two a lifetime full of love and happiness!
